Retrospective Drug Utilization Review (RetroDUR)

The purpose of GHS’ Retrospective Drug Utilization Review (RetroDUR) program is to improve patient care and, as a byproduct, reduce overall drug costs. We deliver on this commitment by providing clients with a clear set of utilization rules, as well as by performing associated reporting and analyses. Our RetroDUR initiatives influence the prescribing behaviors of physicians and provide valuable information to pharmacists.

The rule sets developed from RetroDUR analyses help prescribers determine and deliver appropriate, effective, and compliant drug therapy. Presently, GHS uses RetroDUR to identify patterns of fraud, misuse, and abuse among individual recipients.

RetroDUR also provides our clients (or their payers) the opportunity to examine utilization of different categories of drugs (non-preferred, generic, narcotic, etc.), which assists in PDL development and maintenance.
