GHS has served as the Iowa Medicaid Enterprise vendor for Pharmacy Point-of-Sale services since 2005. We adjudicate approximately 4.5 million pharmacy claims per year online in real- time, perform ProDUR activities, handle about 45,000 Point of Sale (POS) help desk calls annually, conduct drug rebate invoicing and dispute resolution duties, and interface with the rest of the IME vendors and state staff.
Since 2004, GHS also has served as the “Medical Pharmacy” subcontractor to the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care. We provide clinical staff assistance to the Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee, negotiate the Supplemental Rebate agreements on Iowa’s behalf, provide clinical analyses, determine over 70,000 pharmacy Prior Authorizations per year, and handle nearly 20,000 Prior Authorization help desk calls annually.
Iowa is a member of the Sovereign States Drug Consortium, the multi-state drug rebate pooling program.
